Overview

The PhD in Business Innovation prepares students to shape the future of business and society through research-driven leadership. Working with expert faculty mentors, students address organizational and community challenges, create actionable solutions, and build a global scholarly presence. Project-based learning and seminar courses cultivate advanced research, teaching, and leadership skills, producing graduates capable of transformative impact.

  • Master and apply advanced qualitative and quantitative research methods

  • Transfer Credits: Up to 9 graduate credits (≈3 courses)

  • Research-focused, teaching practice required

Elective Courses:

  • Six 3-credit 500-level courses from fields of interest

  • Option to earn a master’s degree at no extra cost by completing six elective courses plus BICE 500 Project-Based Experiential Course

Seminar and Dissertation Courses (No Credit Limit):

  • BICE 807 Doctoral Seminar (3 credits minimum) – taken after required and elective courses

  • BICE 808 Doctoral Dissertation (3 credits minimum) – taken after required and elective courses

Program Structure:

  • Discovery (First Year): Take required and elective courses

  • Journey (Second Year): Begin teaching or assisting in teaching, complete coursework, defend dissertation proposal by year-end

  • Mastery (Third Year and Beyond): Conduct independent research and complete dissertation

  • An admissions consultant will be assigned to your application upon submission.

  • Applicants can track the progress of their application via the Self-Service Portal.

  • Compliance with minimum requirements does not guarantee admission, as placement depends on program availability, academic results, and other criteria.
