Prof. John Kalu Osiri is a visionary leader, global educator, and executive coach redefining the boundaries of education and leadership. As the Founder and Chancellor of Osiri University, he spearheads a transformative institution dedicated to democratizing education and empowering individuals to unlock their full potential worldwide.

Prof. Osiri’s academic journey began in the field of chemistry before evolving into management scholarship, where he delves into the neurochemistry of leadership and the interplay of culture, innovation, and transformative change. As an educator, Prof. Osiri has taught at multiple U.S. universities, focusing on globalizing education through programs that enrich students with cultural and international perspectives. His professional engagements and travels span numerous countries across six continents, offering him unique insights into global education and leadership practices.

Deeply committed to societal transformation, Prof. Osiri continues to study how Africans can harness their knowledge systems to drive positive change. His work is more than an academic pursuit – it’s a movement to inspire leaders, innovate solutions, and create lasting impact across the globe.

Dr. Amarachi Amaugo

Vice Chancellor and Elder (Board of Governor)

Amarachi is a Senior Lecturer in HRM/OB. Admitted as Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) in 2017. Her area of specialism is international HRM – the focus of her PhD. Amarachi’s research interests include International HRM in developing countries (specifically how company policies are implemented) and workplace bullying, particularly in developing countries. Amarachi is one of the supervisors on the HRM Business Research Report module.
 
Prior to joining DMU in August 2018, Amarachi was lecturer at the Universities of South Wales and University of Bedfordshire Business School.

Prof. Stephen Little

Prof. Stephen Little, Professor Extraordinaire at SARChI, Tshwane University of Technology, also serves as an external PhD supervisor at the Centre for Islamic Finance, University of Bolton. He holds the position of Professor of Business Strategy at Osiri University, an innovative institution making quality education accessible to all in the spirit of Ubuntu. Additionally, he serves as the Business Liaison Officer for Stretford and Urmston Constituency Labour Party.
 
Before retiring from the Open University Business School in 2013, Stephen led the Centre for Innovation, Knowledge, and Enterprise and co-directed the cross-faculty Centre for Innovation, Knowledge, and Development. He played a crucial role in developing and delivering teaching modules in knowledge management, entrepreneurship, and strategic management in life sciences and healthcare.
 
Stephen’s diverse career includes a background in architecture, a PhD on the organizational impact of computer-aided design, and full-time appointments in Information Systems at various institutions, including Griffith University Queensland and the University of Wollongong NSW.
 
As Chairman of the Asia Pacific Technology Network from 2008 to 2016, he facilitated collaboration between the UK, Europe, and Asia in high technology, corporate strategy, and entrepreneurship. His extensive contributions include refereeing for journals, co-authoring the Roadmap for Measuring the Results of Science, and coediting a volume titled “Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Challenges and Experiences from East and West” for Springer.
 
Stephen is a Life Member of the International Sociological Association, a Fellow of the Regional Studies Association, and a former Council Member of the Design Research Society. His 100 publications and 95 conference presentations cover topics such as global migration of skilled labor, the impact of large science projects on innovation, and the dynamics of design innovation in regional development.

Dr. Abdoulaye Mbengue

Dr. Mbengue is the Dean of Business at Osiri University, Executive Director of Xelkom Institute, and author of “Is Servant Leadership Vital for Organizational Success” with over 20 years of experience in business management practice. An experienced and accomplished academic and executive coach with a proven track record in overseeing leadership institutes and developing high-performing leaders. He is a scholar in organizational leadership and an expert on strategy management, team building, international trade, value chain analysis, and the automotive industry, with a passion for driving innovation and organizational success.
 
He served as the principal adviser for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Senegal on the promotion of trade and investment, where he was instrumental in overseeing programs that increased export and foreign direct investment and contributed to trade and investment policy reforms. In that capacity, he was responsible for writing scopes of work, coordinating and supervising consultants’ interventions, and monitoring and evaluating project overall performance.
 
As the Program Manager for the USAID SAGIC program (Support for Accelerated Growth & Increased Competitiveness), he oversaw three activities: strengthening business development services (BDS) using a value chain methodology; creation of public-private partnerships (PPPs) that attract investment for efficient delivery of public goods or services; and promotion of policy reforms for an improved business environment. In that position, he prepared internal USAID reports to be included in USAID Headquarters briefings to the US government.
 
He regularly met with other donor representatives to coordinate and harmonize development assistance in Senegal. As USAID Trade Specialist in Senegal, he served as the principal advisor to the Mission on the development of trade and investments, assisted the Mission in structuring programs to increase exports and domestic or foreign investment, performed analysis of market and trade issues, and promoted partnerships, joint ventures, and alliances to increase investment and country competitiveness. A native of Senegal, he played an important role in bridging cultural differences and building stakeholder consensus to minimize destructive conflicts and address key program challenges.
 
His corporate experience in the private sector includes serving as the General Motors marketing manager and market analyst for Africa and the Middle East, where he was instrumental in shaping GM’s Africa strategy. As an independent consultant, he contributed to the formulation of the first African Union strategic plan (2005), and the need assessment for the New Economic Partnership for Africa’s Development program (NEPAD), which laid the foundation for the African Union’s “Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want”.

Dr. Harish Nair

Dr. Harish Nair is a highly respected education management consultant hailing from the United Kingdom, renowned for his exceptional contributions to the field. With a Ph.D. in the Teaching of English as a Second Language in India, Dr. Nair’s academic journey has been marked by a commitment to excellence and a passion for educational advancement.
 
A distinguished alum of the prestigious Executive Leadership Programme at Oxford’s Said Business School, Dr. Nair’s professional odyssey began within the Kerala State Health Services. However, his trajectory took a transformative turn towards English language and soft skills training in India, laying the foundation for a prolific career in education consultancy.
 
Specializing in higher education consultancy, Dr. Nair has emerged as a luminary in the realms of international academic collaboration, student counseling, and facilitating admissions for prestigious schools in the UK. His dedication to fostering global educational standards is underscored by impactful collaborations with various universities and test preparation services, influencing the educational journeys of over 6000 individuals from Kerala, India.
 
Dr. Nair’s intellectual prowess extends beyond consultancy, as evidenced by his prolific publications. He has authored numerous articles and penned the best-selling book, “Target UK” in 2005, solidifying his reputation as an authority on international job seeking and career development in the Indian context.
 
Currently serving as the President of Chancellor Education, Dr. Nair’s leadership extends into the realms of healthcare and social impact. As the CEO of Avatar Health Care Ltd and CommonHealth Awards CIC in London, United Kingdom, he continues to exemplify a multifaceted commitment to education and community well-being.
 
Dr. Harish Nair’s journey is characterized by a relentless pursuit of excellence, a commitment to global education, and a profound impact on individuals seeking educational and career advancement. His visionary leadership and diverse expertise make him a distinguished figure in the realms of education management and beyond.

Dr. Atnafu Dargaso

Dr. Atnafu Dargaso is a seasoned Senior Google Cloud Data Engineer with over 14 years of rich experience in the technology industry. Throughout his career, he has made significant contributions to leading companies such as Walt Disney and Getty Images, playing pivotal roles in various groundbreaking projects. Notably, Atnafu served as a Senior Big Data Engineer in a European Union project, showcasing his expertise in handling large-scale data infrastructures.
 
Dr. Dargaso’s educational journey is as diverse as his professional achievements. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science & IT from Ethiopia, laying the foundation for his career in technology. He further honed his skills by obtaining a Master of Science degree in Computer & Communication Network Engineering from Turin, Italy, followed by another Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Fairfield, Iowa, USA. His pursuit of knowledge continued as he completed graduate-level coursework in Data Science at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology, Pennsylvania, USA. Atnafu’s academic journey culminated in the attainment of a Doctorate in Computer Science from Selinus University of Science and Technology, Sicily, Italy.Complementing his academic achievements, Dr. Dargaso holds a multitude of professional certifications that attest to his proficiency and expertise in the field. He is a certified Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer, Google Cloud Professional Database Engineer, Google Cloud Professional Network Engineer, and Google Cloud Professional Workspace Engineer.
 
Dr. Dargaso’s blend of academic excellence, hands-on experience, and professional certifications make him a formidable force in the technology landscape. He is driven by a passion for innovation and a relentless pursuit of excellence, making him a valuable asset to any organization fortunate enough to have him on board.

Dr. Nina Valentine Orji is a distinguished academic and professional with extensive experience in marketing and tourism.

She earned her Masters degree in Hospitality and Tourism Marketing and subsequently obtained a doctorate in Marketing from the University of Nigeria.

Currently, she serves as the Registrar and VC of Student Affairs at Osiri University, a Pan-African institution founded on Ubuntu philosophy, located in the USA.

She has a deep passion for education and possesses a solid understanding of marketing, health management, and tourism studies.

Dr. Nina continues to make a significant impact in both academia and the professional world.

Dr. Disu is a seasoned Agwo-structural engineer, educator, and researcher with over 15 years of demonstrated expertise in the design and analysis of deep foundations. He holds a PhD in Geotechnical Engineering from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, with research interests spanning geopolymer-stabilized soils, dynamic soil-structure interaction, and deep foundation systems.

An advocate for precision in technical communication and construction management, Dr. Disu possesses a keen attention to detail. His scholarly contributions include numerous peer-reviewed publications in leading international journals. He also serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering.

Dr. Disu maintains active professional affiliations with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI), the Deep Foundations Institute (DFI), and the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE). He is currently a Senior Geotechnical Engineer at ABNA Inc, St. Louis, Missouri, USA

Prof. Mammo Muchie

Director of Doctoral Program and Elder (Board of Governor)

Mammo Muchie is Professor of Innovation Studies at the Institute of Economics Research on Innovation (IERI) at Tshwane University of Technology. He is a Fellow of the South African Academy of Sciences, the African Academy of Sciences and the African Scientific Institute, and a Senior Research Associate at Oxford University.


He was the Director of the Research Programme on Civil Society and African Integration at the then University of Kwa Zulu-Natal. He was selected as a focal point researcher on the South African BRICS Think-Tank; was Tshwane University representative to facilitate African Integration by eliminating xenophobia; founder of the Returning Talent Fund; was Special Advisor to the African Union Student Council; Founding Chairman of the Network of Ethiopian Scholars (NES-Global), Board member at the North Western University, Chengdu, China; Visiting Professor at the University of Economics in Prague; Visiting Professor at Jawarahal Nehru University, India; was Acting Dean of the College of Scholars, ACTS, Nairobi, Kenya; a founding member of the Globelics Initiative to focus research on building African innovation systems.


He is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of the African Journal on Science, Technology, Innovation, and Development. The first chair on innovation studies in South Africa was awarded to Prof. Muchie to promote doctoral and post-doctoral research in Africa. He has worked with and taught over 400 doctoral candidates in doctoral academies across the world.


He is the founder of the Africa Post-Graduate Academy that has been training masters and doctoral students drawn from different disciplinary backgrounds. Prof. Muchie has produced over 400 publications in African Systems of Innovation and related areas. He studied at Columbia University for his undergraduate degree and earned his MPhil (with great distinction with triple first) and DPhil from the University of Sussex.

Colin Ramsay

Chairperson of the Council of Elders

Professor Colin M. Ramsay was born and raised in the Caribbean country of Guyana. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Waterloo and his BSc from City University, London. His teaching interests include life contingencies, pensions, and actuarial risk theory. His current research interests focus on the application of the economics of insurance to actuarial science. These include working on problems associated with adverse selection and moral hazard, the annuity puzzle, absenteeism and presenteeism, and peer-to-peer insurance.


Professor Ramsay also interested in applications of micro-insurance and crop insurance to the problem of food security and food sovereignty in the developing world.

Nwabueze Nwokolo nee Jaja Wachuku

Barrister, Solicitor, and Commonwealth lawyer qualified in Nigeria, England and Wales.

Nwabueze Nwokolo nee Jaja Wachuku is a Commonwealth lawyer qualified in Nigeria (barrister and solicitor 1978) and England and Wales (1995)


She is a mediator and conflict resolution advocate. Nwabueze’s legal life covers government service in civil and commercial work, mortgage and banking (Nigeria). Other heads of law include legal aid work, family, welfare and regulation and compliance (England and Wales). Nwabueze has been fully engaged with her professional body, the Law Society of England and Wales, Chancery Lane London since student membership up till the present time.


She has served on numerous committees and boards as a member or Chair, as Council member of the Law Society of England and Wales from July 2005 to October 2021 (sixteen years comprising of four elective terms of office) Nwabueze has chaired the National Black Solicitors Network (BSN) and the first regional branch BSN MIDLANDS, which she continues to administer and be fully involved with together with other legal organisations with particular interest in Black and minority ethnic concerns, racial justice, equality, diversity and inclusion.


Nwabueze is a member of the Equality and Diversity and Inclusion Committee of her local Law Society, the Birmingham Law Society (BLS), England, U.K. and is presently, the Vice Chair.

José V. Pimienta-Bey

Associate Professor of African & African American Studies

José V. Pimienta-Bey (PhD) is a tenured Associate Professor of African & African American Studies (AFR) and General Studies at Berea College in Kentucky. For the past 15 years he has taught courses within the AFR, History, General Studies, and Psychology programs. Pimienta-Bey’s primary research interests include Moorish History, “Black”/African Psychology, Comparative Religious Studies, and African American Social and Political Thought.


He is the author of numerous publications, including Othello’s Children in the “New World”: Moorish History and Identity in the African American Experience (2002), and “Laboring Within the Mind Fields of Global White Supremacy” which appears in The Osiris Papers: Reflections on the Life and Writings of Dr. Frances Cress Welsing (2019) edited by Raymond A. Winbush and Denise L. Wright.

Lisa Sylvester Acogny

Chairperson at reFocus Africa

Lisa Sylvester Acogny was born and raised in Illinois. She is a multi-ethnic American, French and Senegalese mother of five. She traveled to perform classical dance with notable figures such as Katherine Dunham and Eartha Kitt. These experiences elevated her global thinking and mindset. She has lived in five continents, including England, Germany, France, the Caribbean, Japan and West Africa.She is the Chairperson at reFocus Africa, a nonprofit that uses its vast network to provide mentor young Africans to become change makers. Lisa is a leader in the nonprofit sector in the areas of counseling, housing and homelessness, HIV/AIDS education, and women and children of domestic violence. Her vision is “to bridge the gap and provide affordable education to those who lack access worldwide.”


She is also the co-founder of Knowledge-First International Academy, and through her efforts students around the world have been positively impacted and increased their commitment to self-determination, personal growth, and development. Lisa believes that knowledge is power and that with this power, people become empowered to act based on love and instead of fear. Lisa is an advocate for the less-privileged and for those who seek knowledge. She is an innovator in the education sector who is touching hearts and impacting lives.


Lisa received her bachelor’s degree in Health Care and Psychology from Tennessee State University, a HBCU that gave her a spiritual foundation and the motivation to devote her life to the betterment of the human existence.

Mallence Bart-Williams

Founder and creative director of the Freetown-based creative collective FOLORUNSHO

Mallence Bart-Williams is a Sierra Leonean-German multi-facetted social entrepreneur in publishing, film, fashion, Ayurveda, writing and philanthropy are among her professional repertoire. Mallence pursued her studies in economics and finance in Paris, Singapore and Great Britain. Today she lives across the globe, produces a holistic natural body care line in Asia, and is the founder and creative director of the Freetown-based creative collective FOLORUNSHO, a ‘SHARITY’ that she initiated with street kids in Sierra Leone. Due to her cross-cultural roots she perceives herself as a bridge connecting two vastly different worlds.


Her diverse background enables her to see creative solutions to common problems. Her Freetown based collective has taken homeless children off the streets into school via pure creativity without donations. Through her work with FOLORUNSHO and various other social enterprises in different parts of Africa, she connects cultural contrast, enabling unique synergies that yield action driven results.


In her TED x Berlin CHANGE YOUR CHANNEL Mallence shared a truth that not only deeply resonated with people across the globe, but many felt compelled to share. Her TED x was independently translated into more than 5 languages and became a social media phenomena that was shared over 50 million times via various social media platforms, raising global awareness via a sensational grass -roots movement. Today Mallence’s TED Talk has become an integral part of academic curricula of universities and high schools in African, Europe, Asian and the Americas as a timeless piece of essential truth that will be recognized by generations to come, when analyzing the global economic imbalances of our present times.


Chigozie Obioma

Author

Chigozie Obioma was born in Akure, Nigeria. His debut novel, The Fishermen, is winner of the inaugural FT/Oppenheimer Award for Fiction, the NAACP Image Awards for Debut Literary Work, and the LA Times prize for First Fiction, and was a finalist for the Man Booker Prize 2015.


Obioma was named one of Foreign Policy’s 100 Leading Global Thinkers of 2015. In 2019, upon the shortlisting of his second novel, An Orchestra of Minorities, Obioma became the only writer in Booker prize history to be shortlisted for all his books. An Orchestra of Minorities was also a finalist for the Digital World Book prize.


Together, his two novels have been translated into more than 30 languages and adapted into stage. His fiction and non-fiction have appeared in Esquire, Virginia Quarterly Review, Granta, New York Times, Guardian, amongst others. He is an assistant professor of Literature and Creative Writing at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Victor Khaukha

Director of Osiri Business Lab

Victor Khaukha is a Uganda-born, Nebraska-raised and -educated entrepreneur and manufacturing leader with over a decade of experience in operations, supply chain management, and business development across the U.S. and Africa. His academic background includes a degree in economics from the University of Nebraska, an MBA with a concentration in supply chain management, and a master’s degree in manufacturing engineering.

Throughout his career, Victor has led teams and implemented systems that improve efficiency, enhance quality, and solve complex, real-world challenges across industries such as agribusiness, logistics, packaging, and healthcare. He has also built and scaled ventures that focus on local manufacturing, women’s economic empowerment, and SME development in underserved markets.

As the lead contributor to this platform, Victor shares practical insights drawn from his journey—both in corporate leadership and entrepreneurship. Whether it’s navigating operational setbacks, launching a business with limited resources, or aligning mission with margin, his goal is to offer real, experience-based lessons.

As Director of Marketing, Communications, and External Relations at Osiri University, she brings a commanding blend of business acumen, creative vision, and deep industry knowledge to her role, spearheading the university’s brand positioning and external partnerships on the global stage.

Her career spans senior roles at top-tier media houses, where she led the development of high-impact media strategies for a diverse portfolio of FMCG and corporate clients, including Massmart, Clover SA, BMW, Vodacom, and FNB. Through strategic collaboration with media agencies and brand teams, she delivered data-driven campaigns grounded in audience insights and consumer science research, unlocking growth, enhancing relevance, and driving measurable engagement. Her expertise spans the full marketing spectrum, including media strategy, brand development, media relations, public relations, experiential marketing, social media, event management, and advertising.

Mokoena’s leadership is defined by her ability to translate complexity into clarity and strategy into action. At Baradi Media, she served as Director of Marketing and Business Development, where she expanded her influence in digital media strategy, business development, and client relationship management. Across all her roles, she has been known for aligning brand purpose with stakeholder needs, crafting marketing frameworks that inspire trust, and leading teams toward innovation and excellence.

She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Sustainable Business Leadership from Osiri University and a Bachelor of Social Science from the University of Cape Town, majoring in Political Studies with interdisciplinary studies in Public Administration, International Relations, Sociology, and Social Anthropology. She also completed Paralegal Studies through UCT, enriching her grasp of legal frameworks and policy environments. Widely respected for her insight-led strategies, inclusive leadership, and commitment to sustainable growth, Thembi Mokoena continues to position Osiri University as a visible, respected force in higher education both locally and globally.
